Golf

The golf course at Oakbourne Country Club is a championship, 18 hole course.  It is currently rated the fourth best in the state of Louisiana by Golf Digest Magazine.  It is a par 72, 6898 yard course, characterized by mature oak tree lined fairways, beautiful water hazards, and a well maintained look throughout.  The course was originally designed by Dick Wilson and redesigned in 1985 by Joe Finger and Ken Dye.

Cliff Wagner is the Head Golf Professional at Oakbourne Country Club.  He has been with Oakbourne Country Club since 1992.  Cliff is from Long Beach, Mississippi and played collegiate golf for the University of Southern Mississippi.  He has won the 1993 Louisiana Apprentice Chapter Championship and was named Player of the Year in 1994. In 1997, Cliff finished runner-up in the Louisiana Chapter Championship.  He has attended many PGA instructional schools and has participated in the Internantional Coaching and Teaching Summit in New Orleans for the last eight years.  Cliff was named "2001 Gulf States PGA Golf Professional of the Year" and "2002 Gulf States Section Junior Golfer Golf Leader".  Cliff was voted 2000, 2006 and 2007 Section "Merchandiser of the Year".  In 2007, he was awarded the "Barbato Thomas Award" for promoting the facility, the PGA and the game of golf and named Chapter "Professional of the Year" in 2008.  In 2008, he was nominated National Merchandiser of the Year (of which only 15 facilities in the country are nominated).
